Nursing leadership philosophies are essential for effective management of the healthcare facilities in delivering health care services which are patient-based approaches. It calls for determination and competence in making creative decisions. Nursing leadership should conform to particular qualities to be accorded recognition in offering improved services. Leaders should inspire their subordinates and ensure they deliver quality work that conforms to healthcare standards and regulations. Good nursing leaders do not perceive themselves as powerful but embrace empowerment to achieve a common goal. Nurses work in solidarity to achieve collective responsibilities, such as taking care of people in the Intensive care Unit. However, nursing leaders are not supposed to be bossy but embrace high levels of leadership qualities. Therefore, the research paper will evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors that promote a healthy nursing field environment. Besides, reflection on the leadership behavior will be vital for nursing leadership philosophies.

Description of core values

There are a variety of nursing core values that leaders are expected to display. The core values are shared among different people, and they are a reflection of spiritual and human approaches in tandem with the nursing profession. They include social justice, honesty, integrity, human dignity, autonomy, and altruism.

 Healthcare leaders should display a high degree of human dignity. For example, not even leaders but also staff are entitled to maintaining patient confidentiality. Doing so helps in practicing competence-based strategies by maintaining patients’ diverse cultural practices and ensuring patient’s right to privacy is safeguarded. In priority assessment, patients should be given priority, and all factors facilitating effective healthcare delivery should be availed (Poorchangizi, Borhani, Abbaszadeh, Mirzaee, & Farokhzadian, 2019).

Additionally, nursing leaders should have autonomy in making creative decisions. It is an ethical value for nursing leaders whereby leaders have independence in making decisions. Such decisions include the ability to validate suggested care, interventions, and treatment. It assists in making informed decisions that are convincing to patients and their families. Autonomy manifests itself when patients are informed about the nursing interventions then make decisions based on the information provided.

Precision and accuracy are significant in providing improved healthcare services. Leaders should ensure nurses offer precise, multidimensional, and appropriate services in conjunction with delivering healthcare services (Shahriari, Mohammadi, Abbaszadeh, & Bahrami, 2013). Altruism value enables healthcare leaders to promote utmost welfare and care to clients. Spirit of helpfulness and selflessness is an ethical value in promoting the healthcare of patients. Therefore, healthcare values are crucial for nursing leadership.

Personal mission statement

A mission statement helps healthcare institutions in developing SMART objectives. Objectives should be within the management system and attainable. The personal mission will be to recognize the role of nursing professionals in improving healthcare delivery services. The mission will be the foundation for successful management, thus satisfying both patient and staff’s needs.

Analysis of Clifton Strengths

Clifton’s strengths are nursing thematic approaches helping leaders in providing better services to their clients. According to Clifton’s strengths, there are five strengths nursing leaders should embrace. They include learner, strategy, include ideation, and adaptability. Healthcare leaders are expected to maintain continuous learning strategies as a mechanism of improving their professional prowess (Rath, 2007). Leaders are supposed to identify positive concepts in every challenge they face in predicting their plans. Accepting and identifying the source of errors and failures helps to streamline healthcare services.

Leaders are supposed to portray strategic management practices in driving the healthcare system forward. Leaders should embrace opportunity cost in seeking the best alternatives in case one strategy fails to become fruitful (Rath, 2007). Besides, leaders should embrace the spirit of inclusivity while working with staff and clients. Nurses have a collective responsibility to achieve, and leaders should be accommodative in respecting team members’ ideologies alongside offering support for the group’s success.

Besides, the concept of ideation is significant for nursing leadership. It helps nurses in making creative decisions to make healthcare services better (Broome & Marshall, 2021). Finally, adaptability is a crucial theme for leaders by being flexible and compassionate to other people. Adaptability helps leaders to execute their mandate efficiently due to the smooth trajectory among departments. Therefore, Clifton’s strength assessment is vital for successful nursing leadership.

Analysis of two behaviors to strengthen

First, adaptability behavior is a significant concern as it demines the efficiency of operations within healthcare departments (Duggan, et al., 2015). I would ensure there is health engagement between leader-nurses and nurses-patient relationships are cordial for better services. Second, ideation behavior deserves to be strengthened in improving patient‘s wellbeing. For example, it is developing creative alternative strategies for better services.

The development plan of improving the two behaviors

I will promote compassionate and empathetic approaches in ensuring effective communication across departments and patients regarding adaptability behavior. Doing so will help in improving flexibility and offering better healthcare services. Finally, respecting the subordinates’ ideologies in making informative and creative decisions will be significant in my leadership style. Doing so will help achieve the personal vision (Poorchangizi, Farokhzadian, Abbaszadeh, Mirzaee, & Borhani, 2017). For example, practical creativity and adaptability are correlated in improving the nursing profession’s healthcare services and ethical values.

Overall, nursing core values are beneficial in actualizing nursing leadership philosophies. Identifying strengths and choosing better strategies to strengthen them helps in providing quality services. Finally, a realistic mission statement is vital for nursing leadership.
