Follow the instructions and write a speech on sleep deprivation
Goal: To research and develop a speech to persuade your audience to influence or change their beliefs, attitudes, and/or behaviors
Time: your speech should be 4-5 minutes so keep your topic narrow enough to create impact. Clarity and conciseness are especially important in order to persuade. Timekeeping is crucial to this speech. As we near the end of the semester, the ability to carry over speeches decreases.
Delivery: This speech will be presented live during our scheduled Canvas meets. No notecards or manuscripts should be utilized for your presentation. The entire point of the speaking outline is that you use it as your notes (hence, “speaking outline”). You will be assigned your designated delivery date to the class prior to the due date. Absence on that date means you deliver the first day by default.
Turn-In: Speaking outline and works cited into the assignment folder on the first due date. Speech days will carry on from the start date through an additional class period.
Sources: Because credibility is crucial to persuasion, I expect no less than (3) of which you must have cited on the works cited page. You are required to include a minimum of (3) oral citations. Meaning, you will include orally your sources where appropriate. Ie: According to Dr. Fauci in a recent press conference, “Masks should still be worn even after you have been vaccinated.” You will submit your citations and speaking outline in BB in the designated folder.
Topic: Entirely your choice!!! Please avoid speeches concerning topics we are all too familiar ie: abortion, smoking, legalizing marijuana, blood donation, organ donation & drinking and driving, adopt don’t shop, etc.
Presentational Aid: Optional for this speech. You may share your screen to show visuals so long as we can still see you while you are presenting.
